There is some research that supports Phosphatidylserine as a memory enhancer. However, thus far European studies that have demonstrated its positive correlation with memory enhancement have used bovine cortex as the source. The phosphatidylserine currently available over the counter is derived from soy.
DMAE is a common component in certain pharmaceuticals, as well as in some paint removers. Its positive contribution to memory aids is hotly debated. Additionally it has been posited that it has worked to increase the lifespan on some of the smaller animals on which it has been tested, while others indicate a possible reduction in the lifespan. Focus Complex with Neuro-PS® is packaged and presented with minimal flourish. It is marketed by a fairly well known vitamin company. It looks to support brain function, specifically sporadic memory loss, that is quite common, and merely a product of aging. To this end, it is likely only somewhat effective. However it does not aid in mild depression, sleeplessness or loss of appetite that are sometimes associated, and very typical of the human body/mind as it ages.
