The pungent oils from the Valerian plant, once thought to be an effective treatment for epilepsy (now debunked) have long been used as a sleep aid. It is indigenous to Europe and parts of Asia. The familiar sedative effect of Hops is known to imbibers of beer world over. Taken in moderation, Hops may help to induce sleep. It is sometimes said that Hops have an antibiotic affect on the body, which is though to stimulate gastric juice production. The medically active ingredients in Hops are humulene and lupulene. While this product initially seems a decent choice, it may make more sense to invest in a supplement that will ease stress and sadness, provide relief from crying or unexplainable outbursts, and facilitate quality sleep.
