Summary |
The marketplace has become flooded with an arsenal of herbal and natural remedies with the promise of improving every aspect of a person’s life. And millions of Americans are availing themselves of these formulas in an effort to make the most of their strengths—and tackle areas of their lives that might be lacking.
These fall into categories ranging from sleep aids and powerful antioxidant preparations to supplements that claim to enhance sexual performance, mental performance (so-called “smart drugs”) and, as in the case of Omega Mind, the product we’re looking at here, memory enhancers. Many of these claim to work through such mechanisms as increasing the circulation of blood in the brain.

Omega Mind includes: Brahmi (Bacopa Monnieri), Jyotishmati (Celastrus Panniculats), Shankhpushpi (Evolvulus Alsinoides) and Jatamansi (Nardostachys Jatamansi) among other Ayurvedic herbs.

 | Ingredients in Focus |
|
Omega Mind is made by HerbsForever, a prolific purveyor of herbal Ayurvedic remedies; because Ayurvedic herbs are believed to treat a sometimes astonishingly disparate roster of ailments, there is considerable overlap in the ingredients list of several of the company’s products. Brahmi, an herb also known as Bacopa Monnieri, is advertised as a “rejuvenating” herb for brain cells and is credited with increasing “the alertness, freshness and non tiredness (sic).”
Shankhpushpi (Evolvulus Alsinoides) and Jatamansi (Nardostachys Jatamansi), are positioned as concentration and memory enhancers. Jatamansi is also used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine for treating skin ailments, kidney stones, jaundice, heart palpitations and epilepsy. Other ingredients include Pippali (Piper Longum), which is said to aid digestion and enhance the effects of other ingredients in the formula, as well as Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), claimed to “rejuvenate” and provide stress relief.

 | Lifestyle |
|
Ayurveda is ancient traditional form of alternative medicine that is thousands of years old. Most of its followers live in India and subscribe to Ayurvedic principles and lifestyle in all aspects of their lives. As with all ancient and long-standing forms of healing, Ayurvedic medicine is worthy of respect and has garnered some Western believers who are probably as drawn to the mystique as they are to the purported benefits of the discipline. Does Omega Mind boost memory and sharpen the mind? It may, but we would have to take it on faith, as no studies are cited that can confirm any of the claims; it is also reasonable to assume that those who follow Ayurvedic principles in other areas of their lives are more likely to experience noticeable effects.
Because Ayurveda is such an all-encompassing lifestyle, many Americans have a difficult time understanding its principles. It’s also a complementary form of medicine, so unless a consumer follows a comprehensive Ayurvedic lifestyle, using just one supplement or one component may not deliver the benefits claimed. There are also very few studies backing up the complicated and often mysterious synergistic approach to wellbeing, so faith, understanding and a strong belief in Ayurveda would seem to be important prerequisites for somebody contemplating a course of Ayurvedic treatment or supplementation. Individuals interested in a holistic, natural approach to improving their brain function and mental health who is skeptical about trying this formula can take solace in the fact that there are natural brain-benefiting remedies that have been backed up by studies, and are safe and easy to understand.

 | Final Thoughts |
|
Ayurvedic medicine has stood the test of time, having endured for thousands of years. Unfortunately, it is poorly understood by most people in the USA. On top of this, Omega Mind does not back up its claims with studies or facts about its ingredients. People who are looking for tried and tested natural options for improving their mindset and mental outlook should be aware of preparations that promote a gradual increase in their body’s Lithium level –without the risk of harmful side effects.
Research has shown that a gradual increase of Lithium levels in the body can have calming, mood- stabilizing benefits. Those interested should consider a supplement that features mineral Lithium combined with Orotate (a targeted delivery system that transports the mineral Lithium where needed). It is always advised to seek out a manufacturer that backs up its claims with customer testimonials and a free trial of their product.
