Docahexaenoic acid, or DHA, is a major component of fish oil. Supplemental DHA may lower triglyceride levels and in some, may elevate HDL-cholesterol levels. DHA contributes to normal brain development for the fetus and infant and for the maintenance of normal brain function throughout life. Supplemental DHA may have anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating activities.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an essential fatty acid (EFA) in the omega-6 family that is found primarily in plant-based oils. EFAs are essential to human health but cannot be made in the body. For this reason, they must be obtained from food. EFAs are needed for normal brain function, growth and development, bone health, stimulation of skin and hair growth, regulation of metabolism, and maintenance of reproductive processes. Research to date has suggested an improvement in symptoms and behaviors related to ADHD from omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids are “nature's antifreeze”. In general, the colder the water, the higher the omega-3 content in the fish oil; besides fish oils, vegetable oils (e.g., flaxseed, soy, and canola) are also rich sources of omega 3 fatty acids. The two F's, fish and flax, are the top brain-building foods for growing children, and adults.
It is of the utmost importance to provide our children with all the love, support and nutrients they need to become mentally and physically healthy adults. Supplements of this nature, such as EFA Blend, are potentially beneficial, however it may be seen that a more balanced diet would provide the same fatty acids in better quantity and quality to be used by each child’s subjective system.
If the child is experiencing problems of a more serious nature a supplement that includes an ingredient like Lithium Orotate, the natural, mineral form of Lithium may work to balance mind and body, allowing for the child’s actual potential for success and happiness.
