BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin is an isolated whey protein which the product advertises as “the purest form of Alpha-Lactalbumin commercially available.” This protein also contains low levels of minerals, including calcium, phosphorus and potassium. Alpha-Lactalbumin also contains Tryptophan, an amino acid that’s also found in other protein sources like turkey, milk, beef and eggs. Studies have suggested that Tryptophan helps encourage sleep. Tryptophan in turkey made headlines several years ago in a series of popular articles on why people often felt drowsy after Thanksgiving dinner. Tryptophan is also a precursor for Serotonin and Melatonin. BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin claims to contain the highest natural source of Tryptophan available.

BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin also contains the ingredient Soy Lecithin, included to help the powder dissolve in solid and liquid foods. Soy Lecithin is commonly used as an emulsifier in foods like margarine and peanut butter to keep water and fats from separating. BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin does not contain any fat, carbohydrates, or bulking agents.

BioZzz-Alphalactalbumin is a protein powder that basically positions itself as an easily digestible sleep aid with the associated anti-stress benefits. This is probably a logical assumption, since anything that encourages sleep is likely to help combat stress and increase next-day alertness. The powder, though unflavored, might be distasteful to some consumers, particularly since it can settle at the bottom of a beverage if left to stand for awhile; creating sediment at the bottom that could turn off some users.
